Please meet our Game Master
Name: Fergus Starkey
Games: D&D sessions, levels 5-8, relaxed, chilled gaming and campaigns. Also Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game.
Sci-Fi sessions, more grimdark, using different gaming systems for Warhammer 40k, 30K and other settings.
Vibe: Depending on games, grimdark and horror or light-hearted and whimsical. I don’t tend to TPK, but I do utilise available rules to keep characters because I know they matter to my players. I love to see players, and their characters grow and evolve at the gaming table.
Most likely to say: Are you sure?
Backstory
I was formerly the President of the Tabletop Gaming Society at Coventry University while I was a student. I started at Six Sided by running my Rogue Trader campaign, which has grown from strength to strength, I have also started D&D with a vastly different setting, but still an entertaining adventure for my players.
I also run some of the painting sessions and supporting our players turning their grey plastic and resin into their envisioned heroes.
I am a hopeless nerd for Warhammer 30K and 40K as well as being involved in D&D, I love reading new rules and getting a feel for different systems and games which I could eventually run. I’m also starting to get to grips with 3D printing and seeing what other adventures I can bring to life on the tabletop.

What can you expect at my game table?
A welcoming atmosphere where I am as invested in your characters and their stories as much as the one-shot or campaign. I am always open to discussion over characters and weaving their lives and stories into the campaign. The more invested the table is in what is happening the better.
I am a sucker for homebrew, I can push the boundaries of my own settings without being confined to rules.
I tend to play fast and loose with rules, interactions and general gaming. I try to ensure everyone feels involved and valued at the table and is engaged in the action.
Working on voices, but the more role-playing at my table the better.

As a player
Funnily enough, I haven’t really played much at a table before. I sort of started out being a GM, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
If I was ever able to play, I think I would like to go down the route of a druidic artificer, creating the perfect balance of ingenuity while still maintaining a connection to nature.
Would definitely need to be human or a half elf, however I wouldn’t mind playing a Loxodon too.
Diplomacy first, fists second.

If a bard wrote a song about me...
I may be biased, but I think W.B. Yeats would have made an exceptional bard, and so I would perhaps pick my second favourite of his poems:
Who will go drive with Fergus now,
And pierce the deep wood's woven shade,
And dance upon the level shore?
Young man, lift up your russet brow,
And lift your tender eyelids, maid,
And brood on hopes and fear no more.
And no more turn aside and brood
Upon love's bitter mystery;
For Fergus rules the brazen cars,
And rules the shadows of the wood,
And the white breast of the dim sea
And all dishevelled wandering stars.
I love how his poetry tries to grapple with a changing world with technology competing with the serenity and power of the natural world. Something I think a druidic artificer would appreciate.
